300th store milestone for Screwfix

Published: 23 October 2013
Screwfix has opened its 300th trade counter - just eight years after it launched its first store, in Yeovil.
300th store milestone for Screwfix
The latest outlet, in Birstall, West Yorkshire, joins eight other Screwfix stores across West Yorkshire.

The Kingfisher-owned company started life as a mail order catalogue-based business, but rapid store expansion has followed, with 60 stores being opened this year alone to add to the national store network.

The need for a fast and easy shopping experience amongst Screwfix's trade and DIY customers also saw the early adoption of a multi-channel model by the company, which offers click-and-collect, a mobile website and smartphone apps.

Shown at the opening of the latest store are, from left, Mike Cody, area manager, Graham Smith, head of retail marketing, Steve Dunston, head of retail for the east region, and Paul Olley, the Birstall store manager.
