Pursuit of a perfect lawn drives gardeners to spend £200 a year.
The results of a nationwide survey have revealed that 91% of Britons will spend £11,890 on gardening equipment in their lifetime.
According to PrimaLawn - makers of synthetic grass who commissioned the survey - this equates to half a year's average national salary, £200 every year, or a standard family hatchback.
Of the average UK income of £32,779, 45% is spent on household goods, and for the vast majority, £200 a year is spent on gardening equipment in an attempt to achieve a perfect lawn.
PrimaLawn released the results of the national survey in an attempt to get people to enjoy their gardens all year round.
