Argos and Unite settle pay dispute

Published: 19 August 2008
Settlement reached between both parties after adjustments to earlier offers as more than two-thirds of workers vote in favour of an amended pay deal.
Unite union members working for Argos distribution have voted by a majority of more than two-thirds in favour of an amended pay deal.

Home Retail Group said the deal was agreed last week and recommended by the Union to its members.

"Both Unite and Argos worked very hard to achieve this offer and we are very pleased that colleagues in the five distribution centres affected have voted in favour of implementing this pay offer," Home Retail said in a statement.

Home Retail said it was able to make adjustments to earlier offers although no more money was made available as part of the deal.
