Argos delivers good growth

Published: 16 March 2017 - Fiona Garcia

Parent company Sainsbury’s reports good like-for-like growth for Argos in fourth quarter.

Total sales at Argos were up 3.8% for the quarter, with like-for-like growth at 4.3%

During the quarter, the company opened a further 11 digital Argo stores within existing Sainsbury’s supermarkets, bringing the total to 41. It has also opened another mini Habitat store in a Sainsbury’s outlet, taking the total to eight.

Group chief executive Mike Coupe said: “Argos delivered another strong quarter of growth, with like-for-like sales up over 4%. We are investing in digital to deliver excellent service and availability, with enhancements to the Argos website and app. Online participation is growing, driven by mobile and Fast Track delivery and customers are responding well  to new ranges.

The market remains very competitive and the impact of cost price pressures remains uncertain. However, we are well placed to navigate the external environment and remain focused on delivering our strategy.”
