In a month dominated by travel companies - eighteen were pulled onto the list this time round - Argos together with Amazon, Tesco and play.com continued to dominate the top spots, as they have all year.

The IMRG-Hitwise Hot Shops List of the top 50 UK e-retailers also found that July's wet weather benefited cinema chains.

Good progress was recorded by Next at 11, up from 14 in May, Littlewoods at 30, up from 38, Asda back in at 37, and DSG international brands (formerly Dixons), and Currys at 17.

The List is published quarterly and tracks popularity, as indicated by visits, of those selling goods and services.

This List is based on July 2007 data.

IMRG is an e-commerce industry body.
