Argos outlet to close

Published: 21 September 2016

Argos is to close its outlet in Hessle near Hull, reports the Hull Daily Mail.

The "digital store" opened inside former sisiter firm Homebase in August last year, creating 10 jobs and promising a new concept in shopping.

But in a statement, Argos said the store would close in November. It follows the sale of Homebase to the Australian firm Wesfarmers.

A spokesman said: "We can confirm that the Hull Hessle Argos within Homebase will close on November 13 as part of the sale agreement with Wesfarmers.

"After a period of consultation, store colleagues will be provided with alternative employment in neighbouring Argos stores.

Wesfarmers bought Homebase in February, in a £340m deal. UK Homebase sites are due to be rebranded under the Bunnings banner, with the first due to open over the next 18 months.
