Argos has launched
www.worldtruck.co.uk to engage customers before, during and after this summer's World Cup.
The digital hub, created by creative agency Meteorite, offers customers the chance to win £5,000 worth of Argos products including everything you need to enjoy a summer of football.
'Barry the truck driver' talks online visitors through the content from his real customised Argos World Truck, which is packed with promotions and prizes. He explains what it's all about through a series of videos, showing off his football skills and Peter Crouch-inspired dance moves.
Argos e-commerce promotions and advertising manager Dave Harding said: "At its core, Argos is a family retailer and we see the World Cup as being an event to be shared with relatives and friends in the home. Public interest in the World Cup is huge and its elevated profile means our
www.worldtruck.co.uk campaign is the ideal platform to engage customers before, during and after the competition as well as highlight multiple product categories and content that supports party planning."
He added: "To convert browsers to buyers, it is important to deliver rich, relevant interactive experiences that leverage high-quality content. With consumer electronics a key focus this summer, we have made sure the 'World Truck' microsite helps customers to make sense of the technology on offer. Richer content has moved to the top of customer needs and a key feature of the site will be the integration of our new Argos TV Finder."
Competition entrants stand to win a TV, laptop, games consoles and bags of football apparel from the retail chain, and BBQ entertaining kit, garden furniture and comfy sofas are also on offer, says Argos. There is also a chance to win the entire contents of Barry's World Truck.
At
www.worldtruck.co.uk, LG HD LCD TVs will be given away every week to the person closest to correctly guessing the real location of the World Truck through Barry's sat nav. The random draw will take place every Wednesday at midday with the last chance to win on July 14.
Argos twitter fans who snap the World Truck out and about and send a picture with the hashtag #Worldtruckpic will also be entered into a competition to win an LCD TV.
The microsite will be supported by national in-store activity in over 700 Argos stores.
