Argos starts recruitment drive

Argos is looking to recruit 12,000 extra staff to work in its stores over the Christmas period.
The available positions are equally split across the country with approximately 4,000 vacancies available in the central, northern and southern regions of the UK.
The company is supporting the government's 'Get Britain Working' campaign by encouraging stores to fill the vacancies through their local Job Centres.
Home Retail ceo and interim Argos md Terry Duddy said: "Argos is a fun, interesting and busy place to be over Christmas so we are excited about finding passionate and enthusiastic staff that can join the team. With over 70m customers passing through our doors over the period, the new recruits will really help us deliver great customer service this Christmas."
The company has also hired headhunters Odgers Berndtson to begin the search for a new managing director after Sara Weller left the position in April.
