In anticipation of strong demand this Christmas, the high street retailer is looking to increase its existing 30,000-strong workforce by a third over the festive shopping season, taking on 10,000 temporary store workers across the UK.
Argos managing director John Walden said: "Argos has been a traditional part of the UK Christmas for 40 years... As we approach our busiest shopping period of the year, we need the extra support in our stores from enthusiastic colleagues to ensure that we continue to deliver brilliant customer service to the millions that shop with us at this time of year."
Argos serves more than 124 customers across its 735 stores every year. Of the roles available, 7,400 will be based in England, 850 in Scotland, 745 in Wales and 300 in Northern Ireland.
Initial contracts for the store roles are for around three months, with the potential for some roles to become permanent at the end of the season, where vacancies exist, said the company.
