Ashford's John Lewis at home now open
Published: 7 November 2013
John Lewis opened the doors to its new 'at home' store in Ashford, Kent, today, which is the tenth store of its kind for the company.
The store focuses on furniture, furnishing accessories, electrical and home technology. Product ranges include kitchen appliances such as kettles and toasters, coffee machines, bed linen, towels and televisions and there will also be a John Lewis Home Design Service offered as well.
There are in-store computer terminals for customers to browse the wider johnlewis.com catalogue and there is a free John Lewis Click and Collect service, allowing shoppers to order products online and collect them at the branch the following day, or opt for home delivery. There is also a customer café, and additional services include the John Lewis Gift List.
Director of selling, north and new format at John Lewis, Maggie Porteous, said: "Our 'at home' format has been extremely popular with customers since we first introduced it in 2009 and we are delighted to now be opening the tenth one in Ashford. It is testament to the team to have completed the construction and fit out so efficiently and it's fantastic to be able to open the doors in time for Christmas."
Branch manager at the store, Glynis Gunning-Stevenson, added: "The new shop is perfectly placed to meet shoppers' needs in the Kent area, with a wide range of products and services on offer. We're very much looking forward to getting to know our customers and becoming part of the local community."
Plans to build the Ashford store were announced in 2011, following the opening of another 'at home' store in Tunbridge Wells on the other side of Kent.
