A 24-year-old man has pleaded guilty to stealing money and goods valued at over £900 from the Grantham Screwfix store, where he was employed as an assistant manager
Daniel Bowyer, of Ryecroft, Lincoln, committed the thefts between January 18 and March 11 of this year by three methods.
He refunded money into his own bank account on 10 occasions, totalling £682.71, he also took money from the till estimated at £120 and finally sold stolen items on eBay.
Bowyer admitted his guilt when confronted by the area manager who had seen him carry out the refunds on CCTV.
According to the Grantham Journal, Bowyer had worked at Screwfix for four years and enjoyed his job, but had been struggling with the cost of travelling to Grantham for work.
Magistrates at Grantham Magistrates' Court ordered Bowyer to pay a fine of £190, costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20, in addition to paying £950 in compensation to Screwfix.
