Begbies Traynor appointed to handle case of national housewares and DIY distributor.
A spokesperson for Austin White confirmed that Begbies Traynor has been appointed administrator and that most of the company's workforce has been made redundant.

Begbies Traynor spoke exclusively to DIY Week. Insolvency manager Dean Watson said: "Austin White went into administration on Monday, September 8.

"Joint administrators Gary Lee and Paul Stanley plan to continue trading the business for a short period of time until they find a buyer.

The majority of staff have been made redundant but they have retained a small team to keep things ticking over."

He added: "It's early days so we are not sure how long it will take to find a buyer for the business."

Austin White md Geoff Hounslea was today unavailable for comment.
