The B&Q store in Ore has closed and will be knocked down to make way for multi-million pound supermarket chain Aldi.
B&Q closes to become an Aldi supermarket
According to a report in the Hastings Observer construction of the £5m Aldi store will begin next month and it is expected the supermarket will open in November.

More than 40 people were employed at the B&Q store in Rye Road, but the new Aldi store is expected to create between 30 and 40 jobs.

B&Q had been on the site for more than 35 years.

The B&Q in the photo is the new B&Q Bedford, not Hastings. Just thought I would inform readers.

lbs your post did raise a smile, in particular: "its hard to even think how the little shops will do due to this awful supermarket taking the place of B&Q"
Seeing as B&Q enter a location and subsequently drive the local independents out of business, how is your stance on Aldi anything other than hypocritical?
yes, being made redundant is terrible, however Aldi pay very well so maybe get in touch with them about a job, instead of making hypocritical and also rather right wing statements - "it will other people who don't even speak english"

Its so sad the this has happened to our village, we have lost B&Q from hastings, its been here for 35years, only for another supplier of supermarket's to come in, honestly we have so many here, we never needed this at all, I have been made redundant due to this, its hard to even think how the little shops will do due to this awful supermarket taking the place of B&Q, come on they say 30 to 40 jobs will be created oh please, an they will not be from the village that takes the jobs,it will other people who don't even speak english

I worked in this store. The staff were like family members. I for one would have loved to stay with B&Q.
I do think ALDI could benefit by employing some of the staff that were made redundant. So people still see a fermiller face.
