B&Q in Plymouth to close its doors this week

Published: 5 January 2017 - Jenny Wonnacott

B&Q in Coypool, Plymouth, is having a final sale this week as it prepares to close its doors for the last time on Saturday, January 7.

The closure of the branch was announced back in November, when the news broke that the site would be split into four new stores. Two of these – Furniture World and electronics chain HBH Wolacotts – have been confirmed.

B&Q has said that job losses will be inevitable, but that it is trying to offer as many workers from the Coypool branch alternative positions at the Tavistock Road outlet, which will be staying open.

It comes following B&Q's announcement last Spring of plans to close 60 stores in light of a 7.5% drop in annual profits.
