Kingfisher-owned DIY chain invests £3.5m into home furniture range as it hopes to capitalise on the 'don't move, improve' trend.
Part of an £18m investment in new kitchen, bathroom and bedroom ranges announced by the company in May, B&Q yesterday launched its home furniture range, which will be available online at www.diy.com and via its Furniture Collection brochure from August 1.
The range will include upholstery items, with prices starting at £399 for an armchair, dining room tables, chairs, sideboards, coffee tables and home study furniture.
The company's bedroom offer has also been extended to include 13 new ranges, as well as mattresses, divans and bed frames.
In addition, a range of children's bedroom furniture, including chairs, sofas and toy boxes is due to launch this summer.
B&Q and Kingfisher UK ceo Euan Sutherland said: "We've identified room to improve in our show room collections and we're really pleased with the results. We expect the product areas to be a hit with customers especially at a time when many people are improving rather than moving."
Also part of the investment, B&Q has spent £3.5 million in giving its bathroom showroom a complete makeover with a new range of shower enclosures launching in August.
