As many companies cut back in tough retail environment, the Kingfisher-owned DIY chain introduces new bonus scheme that will benefit around 30,000 of its shop floor-based employees.
The £12m scheme will see around 30,000 of B&Q's shop floor staff eligible for a monthly bonus based on achieving individual store team targets and standards.
The scheme, which was trialled over a three month period earlier this year saw more than 70% of store employees benefit from the scheme each month with an average pay out of about £60.
B&Q expects to invest more than £1m in the scheme on a monthly basis, with the first payments made from July.
Commenting on the scheme, B&Q and Kingfisher UK ceo Euan Sutherland said: "We want everyone at B&Q to be well-motivated and incentivised to do the best job... A monthly bonus scheme based on individual stores targets and standards means everyone has the chance of making a difference to their own store team's performance and being rewarded for doing so every month."
The monthly bonus is in addition to a £9m store manager share scheme launched earlier this year.
