B&Q has struck another deal with Morrisons that will see the DIY retailer shed more selling space.
B&Q's superstore in Bamber Bridge, near Preston, Lancashire, is to be divided into two, with the supermarket retailer taking the vacated area. B&Q described its rent on the outlet as "unsustainable".
The move comes just weeks after B&Q agreed to sign over 40% of its 100,000sq ft sales area at its
Wigan branch to Morrisons. And in October last year it sublet half of its 120,000sq ft
Belvedere store to Asda.
The space-splitting schemes are part of B&Q's focus on reducing its trading area while at the same time aiming to maintain turnover. It is understood that no jobs will be lost as a result of the Bamber Bridge move.
