B&Q staff fear job losses

Published: 8 September 2008
Design consultants tell Daily Record they are being 'forced' to sign contracts.
Kitchen and bathroom consultants working at a B&Q store in Scotland have told the Daily Record newspaper they fear losing their jobs if they do not sign recently reworked contracts.

According to the Record, an un-named consultant said if the staff do not agree to the terms, 'this will be taken by the company to mean that we have given them 90 days' notice'.

Staff will also have a cap on their earnings in the new contracts.

A spokesperson for B&Q said the company is proposing the changes via consultation and will take effect, if accepted, from December this year.
