DIY and garden centre giant to create interactive installations, including a large green pig and sheep climbing ladders, at the event to inspire the British public to lead a more sustainable life.
The Prince of Wales' 'A Garden Party to Make A Difference' will see the Prince and his neighbours open their gardens at Clarence House, Lancaster House and Marlborough House up to the public.
The event provides a rare opportunity for visitors to see these historic gardens, and will last 12 days - from September 8 -19 September.
B&Q, one of the partners of the event, today announced its intention to help green up the nation through a series of innovative installations at the event, which will help to inspire, engage and make it easier for the public to start to live a more sustainable life.
The fun installations, which are titled 'Tune Up Your Central Heating', 'Let's Talk Water Savings', 'Natural Insulation Means No Sleepless Nights', 'Fresh Air Is Free', 'Paint Recycling In Action', 'Plant Beautiful Bulbs', will feature radiators on a bandstand, sheep climbing a ladder, and a giant shower head.
B&Q hopes the eye-catching sets, which will include top tips, as well as explaining the benefits for you and the planet, will help make it easier for visitors to understand more about sustainable and some of things that can be implemented to live a greener life.
The unique Festival will be held in the gardens of London's Lancaster House, Clarence House (the London residence of HRH The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall) and Marlborough House from 8 - 19 September, from 10am - 6pm daily.
Part of The Prince of Wales's 'Start' initiative, launched in February, organisers explain that the festival is designed to give people of all ages a fun day out, while at the same time, via a number of imaginative exhibits, demonstrating the small steps that can be taken to build a more sustainable future.
Announcing the launch in June, The Prince of Wales said: ""I am delighted to be able to welcome visitors into my gardens, and those of my immediate neighbours, for this exciting festival. We have a fantastic team of talented curators who are helping us create an event, which will, I hope, be both fun and informative. This festival is just one way in which Start can help to demonstrate how we can all make a difference, however big or small the steps we take."
The musical programme for the event is being created by Jools Holland, with comedy by Marcus Brigstocke and Hugh Dennis, growing and gardens by Alan Titchmarsh and even fashion by Dame Vivienne Westwood.
