Ban for fire-risk battery charger

Published: 8 February 2013
The authorities have issued a warning about a battery charger that poses a risk of fire.
Ban for fire-risk battery charger
A ban has been placed on the marketing of the Stronger brand Trio charger, model number ST-88.

The product, which is made from silver plastic and has an integrated mains supply plug in the back part, can catch fire because the plastic material supporting the pins of the plug is not resistant enough to heat and fire. There is also insufficient protection against electrical overload.

The product, which is made in China, does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard.
