As US retail chain Best Buy opens the doors on its first UK store this morning there may be a few surprises on offer - including electric vehicles, scooters and bikes.
The chain, which opened the first of several UK stores this morning in West Thurrock Retail Park, Essex, claims 'for the first time' consumers will be able to find electric cars, motorcycles, scooters and bicycles all under one roof.
The store, part of the Lakeside shopping complex, will also offer customers free electric charging points for vehicles while they shop.
Its stock will start at the £86,950 priced Tesla Roadster - officially the fastest electric car in the world - down to electric pushbikes costing less than £50.
Best Buy chief executive of branded operation, Paul Antoniadis, said: "We want our customers to know Best Buy is different and this innovative and inspiring range is just one example.
"Never before has a consumer electronics retailer in the UK had an entire area devoted to green technology nor had such a comprehensive choice of electric vehicles.
"As with all our products we want our customers to try before they buy and we'll have test drives available on a wide selection of our vehicles - licence dependent of course!
"And all of our car parks will have electric charging points so customers can power-up for free while they browse."
