US based Best Buy has reportedly put off plans to enter the UK market until early next year, according to the Financial Times.
The chain is seen by DSG International and others as major competition here and prompted the company to launch a new look Currys megastore outlet format.
The deal, which is a partnership with Carphone Warehouse, is reportedly not connected to Best Buy's recent profit slump in the US, which has seen it announce 250 possible redundancies.
Carphone's finance director and chief executive of the joint venture, Roger Taylor, told the paper: "If it makes more commercial sense to open three or four months later, that is what we will do."
