Hamilton Acorn md John Grayson has been named as the new BHETA DIY sector chairman, replacing Home Décor Innovations' Max Crosby-Browne.
Mr Grayson was voted in at the association's annual agm on May 21. Speaking to DIY Week he said: "When I was told I could add some value I recognised that members and potential members need to understand that you only get out what you put in. There's so much to get out of meeting with likeminded members particularly in the current economic climate.
"I think the primary objective is to put the DIY sector of BHETA back where it needs to be. It needs to re-establish its sense of purpose and that comes down to communication. People talking to each other and working with each other to address the common challenges, and therefore opportunities, that lie ahead - you can't put a price on that."
DIY director Andy Vaughan echoed John's enthusiasm. He told DIY Week: "I'm really pleased with John's appointment. He's someone with a tremendous amount of experience, but also vitality and energy. He's already had an impact on boosting the numbers on the DIY committee as well as several new member introductions. I'm really looking forward to working with him."
