Following his questioning by MPs last week, former BHS owner Sir Philip Green has pledged to offer 1,000 jobs to BHS staff at his Arcadia retail businesses.
According to reports, the workers in question are currently employed at Arcadia concessions within BHS outlets, such as Dorothy Perkins and Wallis. It is understood that Sir Philip, who last week admitted that he sold BHS to "the wrong guy," has also instructed his staff to help the remaining 10,000 soon-to-be-out-of-work BHS employees find new jobs.
Sir Philip was criticised when it came to light last week that he took £400m in dividends out of BHS during the 15 years he owned it, as well as the now-famous sale to bankrupt Dominic Chappell for £1 last year.
MPs from the Business and Pension Select Committees wrote to Sir Philip's wife Lady Tina Green last week asking questions about the businesses owned by the family. Sir Philip, meanwhile, has promised to "sort" BHS's £157m pension black hole.
