Hot tubs, built-in barbecues and bee houses are in but wind chimes, windmills and white plastic patio furniture are out.
That's the conclusion of new research by Jeyes, which asked 2,000 people about the items that would help them create their perfect garden.
Ceramic pots, summerhouses, decking and parasols are also included in the vision, and birds are favourites with gardeners, with bird baths and feeders firmly on the list of desirable garden items.
The research also found that just a fifth of gardeners felt their own outdoor space was very tidy, while over three-quarters said their outdoor space definitely needed work.
One in eight doesn't enjoy spending time in their outdoor space because of the way it looks, results showed, and most think gardening is hard work.
Weeding and cutting the flowers and grass are the gardening jobs people are most likely to let slide.
On average, people rack up over five hours a week spending time in the garden.
