Bishops Home Hardware in East Sussex has been named Home Hardware Retailer of the Year.
Beating off competition from more than 450 other national Home Hardware stores, the retailer won the Bertie Kingdon Perpetual Memorial Cup for Home Hardware Retailer of the Year at the organisation's convention on November 19.
In deciding a winner, effort, enthusiasm, initiative, development, enterprise, innovation, appearance, merchandising, marketing and overall commitment to Home Hardware were all taken into account.
Claire and Edward Bourne are the fourth generation to run the company that started with a small hardware store in 1918, run by Samuel Bishop, and now consists of three businesses: Bishops Home Hardware (cookware, homewares, garden and DIY), Global Adventurer (camping and outdoor leisure) and S. Bishop & Son (building contractor).
Claire Bourne said: "It is both an honour and a privilege to receive this prestigious award. I would like to thank our staff for all their on-going hard work and dedication and Home Hardware for their continued support."
