Bissell joins BHETA

Bissell, the 139-year-old brand famous for floor care products such as vacuums and carpet sweepers, has become the latest housewares company to join the British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA).
Established by Anna and Melville Bissell, the company is still a family-owned concern with its success down to Melville's invention of a carpet sweeper (patented in 1876) to help his wife keep their crockery shop floor free of sawdust.
By 1883, the first Bissell manufacturing plant was built in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and most recently the company has expanded into carpet and upholstery cleaning consumables.
