A London-based hardware store saw rocketing sales of bolt cutters as protesters descended on the capital for a series of demonstrations.
Groups, angry about a number of issues from the economy to the environment, blocked routes through the capital, ransacked a branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland and, tragically, one man died during the protests earlier this month.
But, while most businesses were boarding up, hardware stores in the city were seeing an increase in trade.
Simon Bencher of City Hardware in Goswell Road, central London, said the sales had been equally to the police and worried merchant bankers.
Mr Bencher, whose family own and run the business, said: "We had about five people in from the British Transport Police buying bolt cutters and a similar amount of merchant bankers too."
The cutters retail for between £40 and £50 depending on the brand.
