Border Stone goes green
Published: 11 September 2008
Leading garden centre decorative aggregate and hard landscaping supplier Border Stone is introducing some 'of the moment' lines into its collection for 2009, with the consumer becoming ever more aware of their carbon footprint and hunting down the latest in 'green' products.
Eco-granite has been a huge success story for Border Stone, such that double the annual forecast has been sold in the last six months.
Building on this success, Border Stone is introducing Eco Pave. Manufactured using recycled aggregates, the paving is available in six sizes, a 1.7m circle with squaring off kit and in two easy-to-store patio packs. In an Olde Green shade and with a fettled edge, the paving is perfect for any style of garden.
Border Stone has added Antique Gold Walling in full and, half block with coping to the collection to fulfil the demand for walling by garden centres. Each block contains random irregular shaped stone pieces to offer a truly unique wall and resemble the authenticity and charm of stone walling.
Patio packs for natural sandstone will be available in both 5m2 and 10m2 patio packs, and also in three individual sizes (600 x 600, 600 x 290 and 290 x 290) for 2009, following feedback from garden centres to offer consumers products that are easy to handle. These meet consumer requests for individual packs which can be mixed and matched to create any patio size. They also fit perfectly into the current point of sale, making the transition seamless for the stockist.
Border Stone has included natural stone rope top edging - which it already offers in reconstituted stone - into the range to further extend options to the garden centre and consumer.
Another addition to the range is the exciting Sandstone Leaf feature kit, designed to add charm and provide the perfect place to relax in the garden.
Two new decorative aggregates have been added to the already extensive collection. Mixed bags of red and white, and green and white will add colour to the garden and a classic feel with a contemporary twist.
Tom Bateson from Border Stone says: "The garden centres need a extensive range of products with a small footprint in order to remain competitive and appeal to their customers. The discerning garden centre shopper knows what they are looking for and at the same time, is searching for something which will give their garden the added edge."
A number of new products are also being added to the range available for home delivery. They include the Bamburgh Mill, Honeymede limestone and Slate patio packs plus the stunning Star Circle.
