Garden paving manufacturer Bradstone raised thousands of pounds when it hosted a charity football tournament in aid of #ChallengeDerbyshire.
The charity event took place on Sunday, May 7 at the home of Derby County Football Club, Pride Park Stadium. The Bradstone team was joined by a host of local businesses, including M Markovitz Ltd Builders & Plumbers Merchants, competing to be the Bradstone Tournament winner.
Participants’ friends and family were encouraged to purchase tickets for a full match day experience and were invited to take a tour of the ground, as well as step foot on their home pitch. Attending children were thrilled to be able to take a penalty against Derby County’s club mascot, Rammie.
Following the tournament, all players attended a dinner and awards evening at the Hallmark Hotel, Derby Midland, which included a charity auction of desirable items including a match ball signed by the Derby players as well as match day tickets. With all ticket and auction proceeds going to #ChallengeDerbyshire, the total raised on the day was an impressive £8,000.
Formed in 2015 to raise money for three local charities (Ashgate Hospicecare, Blythe House Hospice and Helen's Trust), #ChallengeDerbyshire aims to make sure everyone in North Derbyshire continues to receive the care and support they need when affected by critical illness.
Bradstone sales director Andrew Singleton adds: “With #ChallengeDerbyshire strongly supported by one of our key customers, Markovitz, we felt it was important to join them in this worthy cause which specialises in helping people with life-limiting illnesses.
“The team from Markovitz was in fact awarded the Bradstone tournament on the day, having played an exceptional game. However, we’d like to thank all our partners who took part, as well as their friends and family who came out in force to show their support.”
