Branston Moor Garden Nursery sold at auction

Published: 25 August 2010
Lincoln-based independent goes under the hammer for £35,000, with completion of sale to take place today.
Branston Moor was snapped up at an auction arranged by property and business consultancy JH Walter, which saw 27 lots sold, including a former Lincoln pub and a number of residential properties.

The garden centre, owned by Derek and Sheila Liddle, was put up at a guide price of £30,000 but the hammer fell at £35,000. The buyer has not been named and their intentions for the site are unknown. According to the seller's contract, the acquisition is due to complete today.

The 0.25 acre site in Branston, Lincoln, was sold with fixtures and fittings, which includes a mobile catering trailer, log cabin tea room, sales building, greenhouses, polytunnel and car parking area.

Branston Moor began operating as a garden nursery in 1999 after Mr and Mrs Liddle applied to convert the site 'Claremont' on Moor Lane from a poultry farm. Permanent permission for the site to remain a garden nursery was granted in 2001.

The site was sold as a vacant possession, with no staff transferred in the deal.
