With a quarter of Brits claiming to be bored of traditional greens and browns for the garden, new research reveals that more homeowners are showing their patriotic side in their garden décor, with sales of red, white and blue paint on the increase.
The study by woodcare brand Cuprinol, revealed an 74% increase in sales of Terracotta red compared with last year, while its Pale Jasmine white was up 8% and Barleywood blue jumped 4%, boosted by this year's summer of celebration.
The research also found that bright colours are no longer reserved for interior spaces, with 36% revealing that they have added colour to wood and metal in their garden for the first time this year.
The garden fence was found to be the most popular part of the garden to be spruced-up with a lick of paint 66%, while the garden shed came second, closely followed by garden furniture, with 50% and 43% jazzing up the outdoor items.
Despite the rainy start to the summer, 35% of respondents planned to revamp their garden with vibrant colour to spend more time in it this year. A further 25% claim to be bored of the usual brown colours in the garden.
