Broad Street DIY scoops Retail Excellence award

Bromsgrove independent Broad Street DIY has been awarded a highly-commended accolade at the Midlands Family Business of the Year.
The store was shortlisted from over a dozen entries in the Retail Excellence category in September. Staff then faced the judges, with the Retail Excellence award led by Boots Opticians managing director Ben Fletcher, on October 6.
Following a 20-minute presentation there was an in-depth question-and-answer session which focused on family values, the development of the business and its future direction.
Staff from Broad Street DIY joined 300 guests, finalists, judges and sponsors for a black-tie awards dinner at Leicester's Athena earlier this month. Rutland Cycling was the overall winner of the Retail Excellence category, with Broad Street DIY awarded highly-commended status - the only Worcestershire business in the category to make it through to the final stage of the competition.
The judges were particularly impressed with the passion, commitment and strong leadership skills demonstrated by Broad Street DIY.
"We're delighted to have been given such an important award," said store director Hayley Warren. "We work hard to make sure that younger family members understand the importance of strong customer service and the need to be constantly reviewing what we do and how we do it."
Broad Street DIY was established by Tony and Linda Warren in 1979. Three generations of the family now work at the shop.
