Brutons Home Hardware scoops top Christmas window prize
Published: 30 November 2015
Staff at Brutons Home Hardware in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, are celebrating having been announced as winners of this year's Home Hardware Christmas window dressing competition.
Jenny Stemp received the first prize of £100-worth of vouchers, while Lynn and Alan Harris from Surrey independent Coulsdon Home Hardware took the second prize of £50 in vouchers.
In coming to their decision the panel of independent judges took into account window content, products featured, layout, use of props, use of point-of-sale material, lighting and overall maintenance of displays.
Ms Stemp commented: "As a team we love Christmas, so the window is so much fun to do, although it's not without its challenges. The window is accessed through a tiny door behind some stands and is approximately 5m wide and half a metre deep so it's a very difficult space to work with!
"We couldn't have created such a wonderful display without the wide range of fab products in the Home Hardware Christmas brochure, and the window graphics and Christmassy tickets finish it off perfectly. We also added lots of lights and some snowflake transfers which I think look lovely.
"Hidden in the window display is a special knitted Christmas pudding as part of Nailsworth Town's Christmas Pudding Hunt - there are 20 to find and we've donated a prize for the winner's hamper. Nailsworth are also judging their own Christmas window competition, so fingers crossed for the double this year!"
Home Hardware marketing manager Beverley Wood added: "The competition encourages retailers to make a special effort for the festive period. This adds to the special ambience in the run-up to Christmas and makes members' stores more attractive and welcoming.
"Over the last few weeks we have seen retailers raising the bar and working hard to make their window displays highly attractive to the consumer."
