Builders Merchants asking DIYers and Builders to get involved with World Cup footie Challenge for Teen Charity

Parker Building Supplies, Chandlers Building Supplies, Fairalls and Stamco Hoppings have launched a branch-wide ‘World Cup’ penalty shoot-out challenge for charity.
In aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, customers are given four shots at goal with any additional shots requiring a £2 donation to the charity. Customers that score can win anything, from crates of beer, to footballs or other World Cup merch.
Nick Needham, branch manager of Eastbourne’s Parker Building Supplies said: “The aim is to have some World Cup footie fun while also raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Our customers have been great sports! They love the challenge and are keen to get involved. We’ve had a good number of ‘strikers’ give it a go – turns out builders and DIYers are quite good footballers too! There’s still plenty more prizes up for grabs, so we’re hoping to raise a tidy sum for TCT.”
Parker Building Supplies, part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group that also includes Chandlers and Fairalls, has been supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust for several years, raising in excess of £180,000 to date. Previous fund-raising initiatives have included football tournaments, marathons, golf days, cycle challenges and even abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower!
Lynn Hyder of Teenage Cancer Trust, said; “We are very grateful to everyone at Chandlers, Parker and Fairalls for their ongoing fundraising efforts for us. It is thanks to you that Teenage Cancer Trust is able to continue to support young people with cancer.
“Every £30 raised helps fund an hour of specialised nursing support for a young person having treatment for cancer, so the ongoing support of Parker Building Supplies and its partners will continue to make a difference to people’s lives.”
Seven people aged 13-24 are diagnosed with cancer every day. The Teenage Cancer Trust is the UK’s only charity dedicated to providing world-class cancer services and support, so that no young person has to face cancer alone.
Chandlers Building Supplies, Parker Building Supplies, Fairalls and Stamco Hoppings have consolidated their position as leading builders merchants in the South of England. As part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG) they boast 37 branches operating in the South East spanning five divisions to include roofing, plumbing, electrical and timber.
