Bunnings promises new jobs as it closes Habitat concessions

A Habitat store in Bath, which has been operating from a Homebase warehouse for less than a year, is set to close in early September.
The five employees based within the Western Riverside Development store have been promised jobs elsewhere within the Bunnings group, according to local press. The Habitat website is reportedly set to continue operating as well as stock sold in Argos stores.
Bunnings took over Homebase earlier this year, with Home Retail Group retaining control over Habitat. Said a spokesperson for Habitat: "Habitat concessions are not part of Bunnings' ongoing business strategy and, as such, mini Habitat concessions will be coming out of Homebase stores in 2016.
Bunnings has confirmed that all Habitat concession store colleagues will be offered a role within the Bunnings business.
"The core Habitat business remains fundamentally unaffected by the change in ownership of Homebase, retaining the strong financial backing of Home Retail Group. Investment will continue to be made into developing a best-in-class transactional website, impressive flagship stores and evolving a new network of smaller customer touch-points throughout the UK, alongside availability through Argos high street stores nationwide."
