Former US president pays visit to Elliot’s Hardware in Dallas, Texas after the chain offered him a job as a greeter.
According to store manager Andrea Bond George W Bush arrived at the store, name badge in hand, saying, "I'm looking for a job".
Earlier this month, president and ceo of the hardware chain, Kyle Walters offered Mr Bush the part-time position in a letter published by a Dallas newspaper.
It read: "We're confident that your experience working in your own family business, as well as your people skills developed throughout the years of meeting with foreign dignitaries would make you an excellent candidate for the position.
"Furthermore, like you, many of our greeters are retired from the corporate world, so we're sure you'll have no trouble making new friends."
He added: "We think you'll find working with us much less stressful than your last job."
Despite politely declining the offer of a career at Elliot's, Mr Bush spent an hour at the store chatting to customers and doing a little shopping.
George W Bush and his wife Laura recently moved to Dallas but still occupy a ranch at Crawford Texas.
