Published: 7 October 2014
Carl Kammerling International is sponsoring employee Gerard Herbert, who is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro this month to raise money for local charity Cancer Aid.

Mr Herbert and his wife Karen will join four other climbers on the six-day hike, walking six to nine hours a day and facing a gruelling 15-hour trek on summit day.

At 5,895 metres, Mount Kilimanjaro is the world's highest free-standing mountain.

The rest of the sponsorship money will be raised through a fundraising web page (www.mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/herbertkilimanjaro), customer sponsorship and word of mouth.

Mr Herbert said he was "hugely grateful to Carl Kammerling for the sponsorship and support", while company chairman Helen Halpin, said: "We are delighted to be able to support Gerard and Karen through this monumental challenge by sponsoring such a worthwhile cause."
