QD Stores has further expanded its Cherry Lane Garden Centre portfolio with the acquisition of Bradmore Garden Centre in Nottinghamshire.
A major re-launch of the 24-year-old garden centre is planned for Easter 2013, marking the completion of a large redevevlopment programme, including enhanced parking facilities and a new family restaurant.
Bradmore currently offers a broad range of plants, shrubs and trees as well as furniture, giftware, machinery, landscaping and an aquatic centre. Its 20 staff members will now be employed by the store's new owners.
"Bradmore is a great looking site with an established customer case which we now aim to broaden with a revised offer that's going to make it easier to shop for the full range of Cherry Lane products," said QD Stores group managing director Justin Farrington Smith.
"The site complements a wonderful portfolio and is an exciting first acquisition of the year for us," he added.
"Our strategy is to develop our garden centre business both organically and through acquisition and we always welcome approaches from successful businesses looking to exit the market."
Norwich-based QD Group owns 40 retail outlets under the QD, Lathams of Potter Heigham and Cherry Lane brands, extending from the eastern England and Home Counties north to Doncaster and west to Wrexham.
In addition to Bradmore, Cherry Lane Garden Centres trade at Long Melford and Pulham Market in Suffolk, Fritton in Norfolk, Towcester in Northamptonshire, Beverley in Yorkshire, Cromford in Derbyshire, Braintree in Essex, and Tickhill in South Yorkshire.
