Kingfisher CEO Ian Cheshire has named two of his colleagues as his possible successors after he leaves the company.
One of them is group finance director Karen Witts, and the other is Kevin O'Byrne, CEO of Kingfisher brands B&Q and Turkish home improvement chain Koçtas. Mr Cheshire has said he wants to quit Kingfisher within the next three years.
Chartered accountant Karen Witts joined the main Kingfisher board in October 2012, having formerly worked as chief financial officer at Vodafone. Previously she worked at BT Group for more than 10 years in a number of financial and general management positions, most recently as chief financial officer of BT Retail and, before that, as managing director operations for Openreach.
In joining Kingfisher, she succeeded Mr O'Byrne, who had been in the role for four years and who had previously been chief financial officer at Dixons Retail.
Euan Sutherland, CEO of The Co-Operative Group and former Kingfisher chief operating officer, is a third potential candidate for Mr Cheshire's position. Mr Sutherland joined Kingfisher in 2008 and was appointed to the main board in October 2012. However, he left to join the Co-Op in March this year.
