Swedish retailer enters into an agreement for a lease pertaining to a new store in Merry Hill Shopping centre, Brierley Hill/Birmingham.
The 1,200sq m store is set to open by December this year and will feature more than 10,000 products from the Clas Ohlson range. The new addition forms part of Clas Ohlson's plans to open between 17 and 22 new stores during the 2010/2011 financial year. Up to 10 of these stores will be in the UK.
Clas Ohlson UK md Mark Gregory said: “Merryhill was an obvious choice for our next store location as the centre serves as a shopping hub for the West Midlands. Our store will offer our usual extensive range of products across our hardware, home, multimedia, electrical and leisure categories.”
Included 15 newly contracted stores, Clas Ohlson will operate from a total of 136 stores, including 65 in Sweden, 47 in Norway, 16 in Finland and eight in the UK.
The Swedish retailer
opened its sixth and seventh stores in Liverpool and Leeds in April this year. More than 500 people queued to get into the Liverpool shop when it opened on April 29 in the Clayton Square shopping centre. Similar numbers turned up to the opening of the Leeds outlet, at the junction of the Headrow and Briggate, on April 30.
