Published: 9 July 2010
Home sales were up 12% at John Lewis for the week to July 3, 2010, as customers returned to the shops after England's demise in the World Cup.

Huge volumes of bed and bath linen were snapped up, which the weekly sale report said was "a tribute to the logistics operation that Partners across the division deliver at this time of year".

Leicester customers made the most of the home clearance offer at their local branch, sending Home sales soaring by 25%.

Head of multi channel content Helen Keppel-Compton said: "Clearance remains key for this week. The slightly cooler weather and - sad though it is - the lack of English interest in sporting events should be in our favour. Customers will still have the benefit of a good choice of discounted and special buy ranges, with some lovely newness to tempt them. We are well placed to make the most of this opportunity."
