CoolBrands is an annual competition where brands are awarded the status based on six factors: style, originality, desirability, innovation, authenticity and uniqueness.

As perceiving something as cool is down to personal preference, voters are not told how to assess brands, but asked to bear in mind the six factors.

Managing director of DKB, Nick Cornwell, said: "As we move closer to our centenary year, we are exceptionally proud to have been awarded CoolBrands status.

"This reaffirms our own beliefs in such an iconic British brand and pays tribute to the hard work the team have contributed to its success."

Renowned for its salt and pepper mills since 1919, Cole & Mason is now branching out and has recently launched its own range of seasoning products, such as herb and spice racks.

Mr Cornwell continued: "We will continue to live up to our CoolBrands status.

"Our team our constantly developing elegant and original new products within the seasoning category, which will achieve the high levels of performance our customers have rightly come to expect from our brand."
