Lafarge quarry plant fitter Craig Boulton to travel to Spain to put his skills to the test at the 'Screw It' European finals, held during the MotoGP finals.
Mr Boulton, who works at Lafarge Aggregates' Dowlow quarry in Derbyshire could take the European crown at the Screw It competition in Valencia if he is quickest to screw five screws into a piece of wood using a cordless drill. First prize is a £10,000 Yamaha RI motorbike.
His screwing success began at the Hillhead show, where DeWalt was running an on-stand competition to win a cordless drill. Mr Boulton came top, bagged the drill and was listed ninth on the UK leaderboard.
He has since competed at the UK finals of Screw It, held during the Silverstone Superbike meet. Mr Boulton managed to improve his time from 15 seconds to 11 and earned himself a place at the European finals at the beginning of November.
Mr Boulton, who will travel with friend Wayne Preece, explained that he is nervous but quietly confident. " I'm looking forward to it and a bit scared but in a good way. Apparently previous winners have had a time of 10 seconds, so I'm not that far off. I'm just planning to do the best I can."
