A complaint made against Lovesofas' claim to being the 'UK's largest sofa website' has not been upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The person who made the complaint argued that the claim was misleading and should be removed from Huddersfield-based online sofa retailer Lovesofas' website.
To back up its claim Lovesofas provided ASA with a list of all the sofas that could be bought from its website, along with lists from its three main competitors.
These lists demonstrated to ASA that 345 different sofas could be bought from Lovesofas' website, compared to 251 from its nearest rival.
Lovesofas told ASA that the lists proved that its website offered customers the largest range of sofas sold online than any other online sofa retailer.
The company added that its ranges could also be bought in a wide variety of patterns, colours and configurations.
ASA commented: "We noted that the documentation provided by Lovesofas illustrated the number of unique sofas they and their three major competitors sold via their websites and that it showed that Lovesofas' website offered the highest number."
ASA ruled that the claim Lovesofas has made on its website was therefore unlikely to mislead customers and that it did not breach any advertising standards, meaning Lovesofas can continue stating it is the UK's largest sofa site.
