Cork garden centre goes out of business
Published: 24 September 2012
Irish business Hosfords Geranium & Garden Centre has gone into liquidation.
Located in West Cork, the garden centre has been up and running for over 30 years but has now closed down.
Although the business' website is still live, the company is not answering the phone.
Hosfords, which is thought to have employed around 10 people, had parking for almost 100 cars and an award-winning café that seated 84. It also offered a full range of shrubs and flowering plants, along with garden furniture and other garden products.
After news of the centre's demise was reported on the West Cork Times website, a number of readers posted comments. One read:
"This has to be one of the most depressing events of the recession. An iconic operation is not overstating the situation. A most innovative and progressive management built this landmark business and over the years they supported in a practical way every community effort."
Another simply said: "Very sorry to hear this. Always a good place to go and they really knew their stuff."
A creditor's meeting will be held on Friday, September 28.
