Coulsdon Home Hardware triumphs in Christmas window contest

Staff at Coulsdon Home Hardware are celebrating after the shop was pronounced the winner of this year's Home Hardware Christmas window dressing competition.
Alan and Lynn Harris from the Surrey store took the first prize of £100-worth of vouchers, while the second prize of £50 of vouchers went to Terry Reeks from Just Home on the Isle of Wight.
All Home Hardware retailers were invited to participate in the competition and the overall standard of entry was said to be exceptionally high.
In deciding a winner, the independent panel of judges took into account window content, products featured, layout, use of props, use of point-of-sale material, lighting and overall maintenance of displays.
Home Hardware marketing manager Beverley Wood said: "The competition encourages retailers to make a special effort for the festive period. This helps add to the special ambience in the run-up to Christmas and makes members' stores more attractive and welcoming. Over the last few weeks we have seen retailers raising the bar and working hard to make their window displays highly attractive to the consumer."
Alan Harris said he was "thrilled to have won the competition and would like to thank our staff for their hard work. We hope our windows will attract more visitors to Coulsdon during the crucial Christmas trading period. This is a fitting moment to celebrate 60 years of trading in Coulsdon."
