Crown Paint back on tv with £5m advertising campaign

Published: 15 May 2007
Crown Paint is launching a new television advertising campaign on May 16, which marks its return to the small screen.
Highlighting Crown's new 'twist top' paint packs, the 30-second tv commercial taps into consumer's frustrations when removing a lid from conventional paint tins.

The new campaign is part of a £5 million brand investment by Crown Paint's parent company, Akzo Nobel Decorative Coatings.

The commercial shows a series of people (members of the general public) struggling with all manner of implements - spoons, screwdrivers, and even forks - to open their paint.

The mood is lifted with the introduction of the Crown Twist Top paint - a pack that the company says is as easy to open as a jar of coffee.

The campaign breaks from May 16 with 30- and 20-second commercials on major terrestrial and satellite channels, particularly on home interest programmes targeting female consumers.

Liz Hickson, marketing controller at Crown summed up the campaign as a signal of Akzo Nobel's intent for the future.

She said: "The value of the investment in this integrated campaign, which includes presence at major home shows, a series of dedicated consumer events and communications as well as in store activity, demonstrates how serious a player Crown is in the home interiors market."
