DFS has acquired smaller rival company, Sofa Workshop, as it makes a "modest investment" to take on its 14 stores.
Upmarket Sofa Workshop has stores in Chiswick, Harrogate, Bath and Tunbridge Wells (Kent) and its head office is located near Guildford in Surrey.

The DFS Group has only issued a statement at this time, saying it is "pleased to announce a new brand partnership".

"Sofa Workshop is a strong upholstery brand and this new brand partnership arrangement will serve to complement our existing product offer, as well as provide us with the opportunity to reach new customer segments," a spokeswoman said.

"We continue to focus on ensuring that DFS offers something for everyone across all sections of the marketplace and this partnership builds on the success of our existing brand collaborations with French Connection, Country Living and House Beautiful, all of which continue to strengthen our appeal to more aspirational consumers."
