DIY personalities hit the target at charity clay pigeon shoot
Published: 14 August 2012
More than 70 retailers, suppliers and wholesalers from the home improvement industry took part in a charity clay pigeon shoot at the Royal Berkshire shooting school recently, raising more than £7,000.
This year's sponsors Crown Paints, CWV Group, QEP/Vitrex, Sunflex & Yale were supported by major retailers and wholesalers, including, Decco, Dunelm, Homebase, Screwfix, Stax, Trago Mills, The Tool Shop and Toolbank plus many suppliers to the industry at the event.
The majority of the cash raised will be going to the industry charity, the Rainy Day Trust. Price & Company's David Sadler was the top performer of the day, with Ricahrd Johnson from Homebase taking top retailer award. Homebase's Caroline Bacon and Vicky Cox came joint top in the ladies' competition.
In the novices category Homebase made it a hat trick with Richard Jablonski missing just five clays to be awarded a bottle of champagne.
A representative from the Rainy Day Trust said: "A fantastic time was had by all and some of the industry's less fortunate will benefit as a result of the funds raised at the event.
"The shoot is a great place to catch up with what is happening in the industry and of course forging stronger relationships and a majority of the retailers/suppliers who attended this year's event have indicated their intention to attend again next year."
Next year's event has already been booked for July 4.
